After 6 years of successful national and international exhibitions MART (www.mart.ie) is setting up a new visual arts depo – THE MART. Fresh from north american and european tours, the next endeavour is the creation of “THE MART” – a multi-gallery, art shop, studio and workshop space housed in the iconic old fire station in Rathmines Dublin.
As we work on the revamp we would like to put the call out for:
We do not want full proposals at this stage, just fill out our booking form to propose your exhibition or event and we will get back to you with pricing and full details.
Info on our plans :
THE MART will engage our 150+ artists, local communities, national and international artists and curators. It will also be home to MIAEN – Mart’s International Arts Exchange Network which will offer professional development for artists and curators from around the world to come and curate an exhibition in Dublin with local artists. It will provide studio space and offer comprehensive curatorial and art programs. This Network will introduce Dublin audiences to exceptional international artistic practices.
The fire station was previously occupied by the Dublin Civil Defence and Dublin Fire Brigade for years and we wish to bring this amazing building back to life. THE MART will be a gathering of like minded people, an open sphere where visions convene and artistic endeavours are conducted and collide!
With a base MART can provide Dublin artists with equipment and technical support for exhibitions. MART will also act as a Curatorial Service provider, where Artists can call upon curators advice, help and services to create their show.
During 2013 THE MART will be become home to 10 art studios, domestic art exhibitions, workshop and facilitate 5 curated shows which will see global curators and art initiatives connecting with local artists.
The Artists & Curators involved in MART are highly skilled educational, technical and artistic expertise; the curators and artists hold Masters & PHDs in Art. MART’s activities will impact an international artistic flare to Dublin’s city & Rathmine’s Cultural life.
