Collectively this series of talks will address the gendering of media, how gender is produced through technology, and the practices in which women as cultural producers challenge such normative ideas. The talks are set in the context of an exhibition showcasing the work of artists working in what might be considered masculinised media: these artists chosen on the strength of their work ‘happen’ to be women. Speakers will address issues of the gendered body, labour and domestic and cultural production in the contexts of contemporary art practices, film and social media.
