ARTIST STATEMENT
Mary Caffrey works mainly in video/installation. She is interested in how video/film making can be used as a means of creating scenarios or narratives that challenge conventional perceptions of representation and also how real and imagined structures communicate with each other.
She studied Fine Art at Dublin Institute of Technology (2002-2006). Since then she has had a solo exhibition, Rhipsalis (The New World) at Tipperary Institute of Technology, Thurles 2008, and has exhibited in several group exhibitions, such as To Come So Far For Beauty (curated by Deirdre Morrisey) 2010 Block T, The Potential of Vacancy (curated by Sinead McCann) 2010, Dun Laoghaire and Open Door Policy, Galway Arts Festival 2009.
